West Coast Environmental can help you ensure the safety of your employees by setting up the proper procedures, protection and training. WCE has an in-house Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Professional Engineers (PE), and a Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) that can perform the following services:
Management, Audits & Inspections

Safety program management consists of process hazard analyses, training programs, policy development, and facility auditing to determine needs and/or measure compliance. WCE has developed safety management systems for several clients. Some systems have used web-database technology for distribution of policy and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs) to employees.
Indoor Air Quality & Ventilation

Workers who are exposed to pollutants in air on a daily basis are at risk for adverse health effects. WCE can assist clients in determining whether a problem exists and recommend engineering or administrative controls and / or personal protection equipment (PPE) to ensure that employees are not exposed to pollutants in excess of recognized health standards.

Hearing Conservation & Noise Control

OSHA requires employers whose workers are exposed to noise equal to or exceeding an 8-hour time-weighted average (TWA) sound level of 85 dBA or, equivalently, a dose of fifty percent over a shorter duration, to implement a hearing conservation plan. WCE can assist in measuring worker noise exposure to determine applicability, developing hearing conservation program documents, and recommending engineering or administrative controls and/or PPE to reduce worker noise exposure.
PPE Assessment & Respiratory Protection

Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) is assigned to job tasks for which engineering and / or administrative controls can not be implemented to reduce worker exposure to less than applicable standards. Respiratory protection programs are necessary for employers whose workers are required to wear respiratory PPE (e.g. air purifying respirator, supplied air hood). WCE can assist in evaluating worker exposure, determining proper Personal Protection Equipment and development of program and employee training materials.
Asbestos & Lead Exposure

Asbestos and lead are highlighted constituents of concern and are present in many materials and paints used in residential and commercial construction prior to 1990. Generally, both materials can be left in place if they remain undisturbed. However, if demolition of materials containing or coated with asbestos or lead-containing materials is to be performed, then applicable regulations must be followed. WCE has a Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) on staff and can assist with development of remediation plans, worker exposure monitoring, and clearance sampling.
Construction Safety & Fall Prevention

Construction safety is regulated by OSHA under regulations designed specifically for the construction industry (29 CFR 1926). These regulations cover many of the same topics as the general industry regulations. WCE can assist in interpreting OSHA regulations and preparing plans such as a Fall Prevention Plan which also applies to general industry.
Emergency Management & Disaster Planning

WCE can prepare plans to be followed in the event of an emergency or disaster.
Hazard Communication (Hazcom) & Training Programs

Hazcom Training programs ensure that hazards produced or imported to the facility are evaluated and a proper procedure for the safe handling of these materials is transmitted to employees so as to provide a safe working environment. WCE can help companies identify hazards, prioritize hazards according to their associated risk, and create in-house training programs to disseminate information on workplace hazards to employees, contractors, and visitors to the facility.
